Alcohol Sanitizing Wipes
Hand hygiene is an important part of the U.S. response to the international emergence of COVID-19. Practicing hand hygiene, which includes the use of alcohol-based hand rub (ABHR) or handwashing, is a simple yet effective way to prevent the spread of pathogens and infections. The CDC recommends using 60-95% alcohol. Unless hands are visibly soiled, an alcohol-based hand rub is preferred over soap and water in most clinical situations due to evidence of better compliance compared to soap and water. Generally less irritating to hands and effective in the absence of a sink, alcohol wipes work best on non-porous surfaces and for hand cleaning. The CDC's recommended cleaning process for non-porous surfaces and electronics such as cell phones, tablets, touch screens, remote controls, and keyboards, to remove visible contamination if present, is to consider the use of alcohol-based wipes containing at least 70% alcohol to disinfect. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for all cleaning and disinfection products. Dry surfaces thoroughly to avoid pooling of liquids.
